About the AMR Team

AMR Team is a local family-owned business based in Upper Hutt, Wellington, specialising in the removal of Class A and Class B residential and commercial Asbestos.

Asbestos Management & Removal Team LTD was started in 2019 by Ryan in Upper Hutt, who had over 10 years of experience in the industry and was ready to go out on his own. Since then the company gained their “A” (friable) Class licence and be certified in ISO45001:2018 – which is one of NZ’s top health and safety standards.

AMR Team LTD pride itself on its honesty and integrity – we will always be honest with you about what the best option will be for you, and whether or not removal is necessary. We try to minimise inconvenience to you as the client and will do our best to work around whatever timeframe you may have.

Ryan Tukaki Franklin

Director

Ryan founded AMR Team in 2019 after more than a decade in asbestos removal, and he still holds both A and B Class removal tickets alongside his supervisory qualifications. He’s worked across forestry, structural relocation and office relocations in Sydney, and was heavily involved in the long-term remediation of NZ Post in Wellington. Ryan stays hands-on with site work when he’s needed, which keeps his skills sharp and his advice grounded in what’s actually happening on the tools.

Away from work: A father of three, Ryan trains in martial arts, runs, fishes and hunts, and brings the same drive to all of it.

Moana Franklin

Operations

Moana holds a Bachelor’s degree majoring in Psychology with minors in HR and Marketing, and has built a career spanning hospitality, human resources, recruitment, and Māori employment and internship programmes. She’s worked alongside Ryan to grow AMR Team into what it is today, and her people-first background is a big part of why the culture here works.

Away from work: Mum to three, and coaches a touch rugby team.

John Wickens

Sales & Operations Manager

John brings twenty years of construction experience to AMR Team, starting in engineering with a Certificate in Heavy Fabrication before moving into civil and demolition work, machinery operation and site management. He’s operated 30–50T machines and high-reach demolition rigs on some of the region’s most complex jobs – the 12-storey cut-and-crane of the earthquake-damaged Revera House, a two-year asbestos and demolition project at Longburn Freezing Works, and three years managing all demolition and bulk civil works at Te Matapihi, Wellington Library. Most recently, John was branch manager at Ward Demolition, one of New Zealand’s largest demolition companies, leading 20+ staff.

Away from work: A father of two and a Speedway competitor.

Jaiden Fry-Raukawa

Asbestos Supervisor

Five years in the asbestos industry and a natural leader, Jaiden runs our crews to a very high standard and consistently leaves a good mark on our clients’ jobs. He’s completed more than fifty roof removals with shrink wrap weather protection – faultlessly and harmlessly – and is a vital part of the team’s success.

Away from work: A father of one and a part-time musician – an emerging rap artist, not to be confused with the wrap he does on roofs.

Pene Va'a Sila

Class A & B Supervisor

Pene brings extensive industry experience and an immense amount of pride in how the work gets delivered. He’s process-driven with high standards and deep health and safety knowledge – exactly what you want supervising a Class A job. He says the best part of the role is the environment and the people: “Sharing my knowledge and skills. Teaching the young ones, but also learning each and every day.”

Away from work: Family comes first – staying in touch with his parents and siblings back in the islands, coaching kids’ sports, refereeing rugby league, fishing, BBQs and summer swims.

Kaleb Davey

Shrink Wrap Supervisor

Kaleb was the first lead in our shrink wrap team and has since become an all-rounder across the business, currently working towards his B Class supervisor qualification. Three years in and he’s still happiest managing a shrink wrap job from start to finish.

Away from work: Training, time with his partner, and trips up to Palmy to see his family. He also has the AMR Team logo tattooed on him – which is either commitment or a very long-term employment contract.

Super Dave

Yard Supervisor

Known to everyone as Super Dave, and for good reason. Dave is highly respected across the team and brings a world of knowledge from a lifetime of varied careers – he can fix most things mechanical or electrical, and plenty besides. Yardman, in-house nutritionist, bargain hunter: Dave wears a lot of hats and keeps our gear and our yard running.

Away from work: Fishing, motorsports, and time with his wife and granddaughters.

Mark Bantiyao

Senior Asbestos Removalist

In a short time, Mark has made himself invaluable across the board, with real expertise in both asbestos removal and shrink wrapping.

Oshay Carrol

Senior Asbestos Removalist

An experienced asbestos removalist with a calm demeanour that steadies a site, Oshay likes the job because it keeps him active.

Away from work: Sport, walking the dogs, time with his partner and his nieces and nephews, and gaming. He also has his own flight simulator setup.

Josh Sherborne

Asbestos Removalist

Josh is always early – first to the yard in the mornings to open up for everyone and get the day’s equipment sorted. He enjoys the variety of the work, the chance to keep learning new skills, and the people he works with most of all.

Away from work: Time with his partner, nights at the speedway with mates, and working on his car. Josh also brings a wealth of knowledge on Ford Falcons, whether or not anyone asked.

Stacey Bewley

Administrator

Stacey keeps our systems robust – making sure paperwork is accurate and the process is followed consistently, which matters more than most people realise in a compliance-heavy industry. She’s picked the role up exceptionally quickly and takes a genuine interest in learning the industry.

Away from work: All forms of motorsport, and time with her family.
